Linksys VoIP Phones Are Cisco’s Loss Leaders
Don’t be fooled. The Linksys iPhone effort is really a Trojan horse by Cisco to get more people hooked on VoIP.
Taking a page out of drug dealers and razor blade salesmen Linksys is using the low priced, highly lucrative consumer market to get more of the world hooked on VoIP.
To me this is a very, very smart ploy by Cisco to use their subsidiary to get people to grow up on VoIP. The whole thing helps to cell more core infrastructure that Cisco makes oodles of dollars on.

Mobile Monday Mobile Peer Awards
In what is shaping up to be a great event in Barcelona during the upcoming 3GSM Conference, the Mobile Monday group has announced a one day rapid fire presentation event called the Mobile Peer Awards. If I was in Barcelona, I’d want to be at this as the organizers don’t want the old, tired, big and fat companies presenting. The Numbers Game
Survey results from an In-Stat research effort show that VoIP usage in the USA is growing and that Skype is number one.
Given how the researchers are lumping Skype in with Vonage, it’s only a matter of time before Vonage and other SIP based VoIP providers, as well as the telcos start to ask the FCC to put the same E911 regulations on Skype since it seems everyone but Skype and eBay officials look at the Skype service as a phone line replacement.

Skype Doesn’t Have A Bug…It’s A Horse
Skype and Websense have agreed that the earlier ZDNet report that Skype has a virus is now being classified as Trojan Horse.
When this happens to Microsoft, the world gets up in arms. It seems Skype is now at that level of discussion. I think Skype and the WebSense team both are to be commended for their rapid action. One thing is for sure, Skype has a Security team that is really on top of things.

One of America’s most advertised companies, Verizon Wireless, has recently announced plans to begin selling ad space on several of its mobile internet websites.
The news, weather, and sports websites made available to Verizon subscribers will soon become revenue generators in their own right through the inclusion of paid banner ads.
Executives with the company say that they intend to move cautiously into this largely uncharted industry, limiting the amount of ad spots available, and gauging demand gradually.
